March 2, 2012

Friday night, our 2nd round of storms for the week rolled through.  At top, I have a picture coming out of the basement showing the hail.  It was about quarter sized.  In the back of the house the rain was coming so hard and fast that the neighboring pond overflowed into Mom's backyard with minutes.  I thought for sure there was a tornado over top of us.

February 27, 2012

We have a little "creek" on our property which is really a drainage ditch I think.  The kids like to go into the "woods" and have set up a club house of sorts.  I find lost shoes, lawn chairs and everything back there.  My kids find things like this. It was the biggest crawfish I had ever seen.  Yuck!  Ayla was carrying it around even before we knew for sure it was dead.  I think the country is getting into them.

February 20, 2012

We went to Mammoth Cave this weekend and loved it.  It's been years since I've been down there.  The day was gorgeous, so we were able to get Dad out on one of the trails.  I love the pic of Ayla and Isaac talking by the tree. I'm pretty sure Ayla is trying to get Isaac to do something he's not supposed to do.  I didn't have my tripod, so the cave pics are a little blurry.  The guide didn't tell us until we were almost out about the cave crickets...they were EVERYWHERE on the roof of the cave.  In some spots, my head hit the top so I'm sure I had some of them in my hair.  Ick.  We plan on going back soon though.  Much to do and explore there.

February 18, 2012

Ayla went to her friend's Birthday party.  They got to decorate hats and aprons first.  Then, they got to decorate cookies and marshmallows with any topping you can think of.  It was such a cute party.  I love the flower she made for her hat and the mason jar drinks the host made as gifts for the girls.

February 15, 2012

Ayla started the month off with Strep and ended it with Pneumonia.  She has fallen asleep at the drop of a hat all month.  Pitiful :(

February 14, 2012

Isaac and Ayla at their Valentine's Day Parties at school.  Ayla's class was making hats and Isaac's was handing out their Valentine's.  I wish I had pictures of the Valentine's they handed out, but I forgot to take any.  They were so cute.

February 13, 2012

Our Valentine's Day cake!  Isn't it pretty.  No, I didn't make it, but it was yummy!  Thanks to Simply Sweet Small Baked Goods in Elizabethtown, KY.  I requested and she delivered :)  A strawberry cake with chocolate ganache.  Between the two layers, she put both strawberry icing and chocolate ganache too.  The whole family loved it.

February 11, 2012

I really wanted to take Ayla and get her cute little skirt and top for Valentine's Day.  I thought it would be fun to let her pick it out.  She saw these shoes and that was the end of that.  $22.50 for some shoes from GAP = nothing else for Valentine's Day.  Now she has to hold out until it's warm enough to even wear them.  The pains she is already taking for fashion scare me.

February 5, 2012

It took about 4 hours of my life to (and that of my friend's) to make these beautiful 2 swirled crayons with my daughter's crayon maker.  A burned out bulb, a trip to Wal-Mart for new bulbs, an exasperated attempt to make them in the oven instead and a bottle of wine later, we did it.

February 4, 2012

So, I know it's not perfect, but I am so proud that Isaac put this together entirely by himself.  It's not an easy task in my opinion.  If only I could get him to concentrate on his handwriting like he did on this.

Day 22 - January 30, 2012

Taken with my iPhone....again.  We were at a friend's house and she let the kids gather the eggs from her hens.  Here, Ayla has the basket of eggs and is standing with a couple of her new friends.  It was a really nice day, and it was my actual Birthday.  They made me cupcakes and everyone signed a card.  Very nice.

Day 21 - January 29, 2012

My Birthday Eve!  Feeling much better today due to the previous day's pampering.  We took the kids to a carnival at a local church and then my incredible husband took me to dinner in Louisville at Proof.  I couldn't have asked for a better Birthday.

Day 19 - January 27, 2012

Not thrilled with this picture due the shadow, but I was sick AND I was using my iPhone.  This 365 thing is a lot harder than I thought it would be.  This day, I was sick...I had just gotten a massage to loosen up my sinuses and then sat through Ayla cheerleading and Isaac playing basketball.  My entire body ached and I was trying to down some soup from Panera.  It looked better than it tasted considering I couldn't taste.

Day 17 - January 25, 2012

This is the only picture I took today.  Ayla was dancing around, swinging her hair like a rock star and I made her stop so I could snap a picture.

Day 15 - January 23, 2012

They were the best of days, they were the worst of days.  Thanks to last nights storms (IN JANUARY), our trampoline has seen its last day.  Thank goodness we weren't home or it would have been sitting on top of one of our cars!

Day 14 - January 22, 2012

Just because I love catching the kids talking when they don't know we're looking. This is Ayla with two of her best friends from school.

Day 13 - January 21, 2012

Taken with my iPhone....I love the black against the blue sky with the sun shining through.  It looked pretty ominous, but it was just wind.

Day 12 - January 20, 2012

Isaac's 1st basketball game this year.  Somehow, he has really improved.  He made about 8 baskets and we only had to tell him to get up about 2 times.  For those of you who know him, that's really good.  I think we may have found his thing, but it's still early.

Day 11 - January 19, 2012

Skylanders!  Isaac new wii obsession.  It's actually pretty cool.  His mission is to collect them all and he's getting pretty close.  He loves his wii and playing video games, but he also loves to get outside and play. He keeps asking us to watch tv in his room so that he can play wii on the big tv.  HA!

Day 10 - January 18, 2012

I actually didn't take a picture on Day 10, so I'm entering this one.  Ayla and Isaac both had their first games on the same night.  I did NOT push her to do cheerleading, and I don't love it, but she wanted to do it.  She loves it. I guess we'll see where this road takes us.

Day 9 - January 17, 2012

Bantu knots!  This is another method we've tried to get curls in Ayla's hair....she'll suffer through anything for this.  As long as they get all the way dry, they make pretty curls.  She likes them a little better than the sock method because it adds more "wavy curls."  The things we do for our kids...

Day 8 - January 16, 2012

Another iPhone pic.....I forgot my camera on this trip.  However, on the way home, we stopped in Lexington, KY at the Parkette Drive In which was featured and Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.  Yummy!

Day 7 - January 15, 2012

Taken with my Mother-in-law's Canon t2i. She made us all hot chocolate after being out in the snow. It was the first time the kids got to go sledding this winter.  I love a good cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows.

Day 6 - January 14, 2012

This photo was taken with my iPhone as well, but I actually love it. It is an old mill in the small town my husband grew up in.  I've always loved it. We pass it every time we visit.

Day 5 - January 13, 2012

This photo was taken with my iPhone (obviously), but it does chronicle Ayla's new obsession with hair extensions and her longtime obsession with posing.  That's all I have for today :/

Day 4

Two pictures for today :)  I wish I could've gotten a better picture of the kids playing on the trampoline, but the netting got in the way.  I still like this one though.  The second picture is classic Ayla.  That would be two skirts she is wearing (one as a shirt).  This was her 4th wardrobe change of the day.  I have to chronicle that because it's been happening every day lately.  What a mess!

Day 3

Pinterest is one of my new loves.  At school, I'm always looking for new ways to help the kids I work with.  Right now that would be helping several of them learn their multiplication tables.  A friend mentioned this to me and I found it on Pinterest.  I happen to think it's really neat.

Day 2

I'm really surprised that it took so long for this to happen.  Cheerleading is NOT my thing and definitely not my first pick for my daughter.  However, she loves it and I'm trying to let her be who she is and not who I want her to be.  So....here's to cheerleading....may there be enough wine in Hardin County to get me through this.

Day 1

We'll start the year off with my daughter's quest for curls.  The first time I tried it, I got her hair too wet and she cried the next morning when it didn't work.  This time, I got it right.  I love that she is letting me experiment with her hair.  Now if I could just get the cascade braid right!
